Less than one week to go. Many things remain to be prepared. But at least we have our gear. The (not really) brand new bikes are ready to hit the road. We both decided to not bring a tent with us. It will make the trip a bit more expensive (not that much, ‘cause free camping is not allowed in Italy anyway), but we’ll bring our SLR cameras with us. We’ll be travelling with rather light, “tourism” bikes (Scott and Torpedo), equipped with two bags on the back for a total of 30 litres, a small bag on the front and some tools for repairs. We can’t bring all the lenses for the cameras, so we’ll be taking pictures with the body (Nikon D7000 and Canon 60D) and just one versatile lens (18 – 105 and 18 – 135 stabilized respectively).

The route has been roughly traced until Trieste. We aim to reach Bologna (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4602882) on the first day, then Rovigo, Mestre and Cervignano del Friuli, where we’ll hopefully have one day to rest a bit (in Udine I hope :D ). From there, we want to reach Rijeka directly. However, afterwards we have two options. We may take the road which goes on the coastline of Croatia, pretty flat and on the sea. The other possibility is through the North of Bosnia. However, we have much less information on this route and on the facilities we may need. At the moment, then, we should reach the South of Croatia around the 11th or 12th day, and get to Sarajevo by taking the main road through the mountains, with a stop in Mostar.

Everything we’ll be decided at the very last moment. I’m pretty sure that, whatever we manage to set up, it will be changed during the trip anyway.

Sarajevo there we come. Well, soon
